One time Dominican Republic cigar apprentice, now seasoned master blender, Miami native, and founder of Miami’s South Beach Cigar Company, Emilio Mayor, has taken his talents to Lake Norman, NC! Mooresville Cigar Company is the brainchild. The store is the premier cigar & fine spirits lounge in the area. We envisioned a place where one could sit back, enjoy a cigar, grab a drink and get lost in time with great company and conversation. Located on the corner of Market Place Avenue in the retail shopping area of Morrison Plantation, sits your home away from home for the cigar aficionado. Walk up to the bar and find the perfect pairing for your smoke. Whether it’s a classic like a fresh Cuban Coffee that has been blended and roasted to our Cuban heritage specifics or a drink from our fully stocked bar, you can’t go wrong.
Going Green! In designing the shop we wanted to be environmentally responsible with the materials used to build. The store has almost 20-foot open beam ceilings also gave us a challenge. We wanted the place to feel cozy but had several challenges with all the tall walls in the lounge area. We achieved our goal by using lots of reclaimed wood and 100-year-old steel panels from a building that was being torn down in Uptown Charlotte. The humidor is 240 square feet of cigars from all over the world including Oliva, Fuente, Padron and hand selected boutiques such as Warped & RomaCraft.
The lounge has bestowed the privilege of being named the Industries first “Oliva Cigar Lounge”. Oliva was awarded the 2014 Cigar Aficionado’s #1 Cigar of the year with their Serie V Melanio offering. It’s an honor to receive this opportunity with a company that has so much international recognition for always producing some of the best cigars in the world year after year says, Emilio Mayor.
Our lounge was intended to be different from what others are used to. When we first opened, everybody was asking us if we were concerned about JR Cigar opening their flagship store near us. The same customers then were the same ones to come back telling us how they love that we never kick them out the store half way thru their cigar. It’s actually our policy he states, we never treat anyone how we wouldn’t want to be treated ourselves. So we treat the closing hours more as a suggested time at a restaurant than an actual time at a retail store. We wanted to bring a unique and fulfilling experience to a community that would appreciate the cigar craft & history. What better place to do it than North Carolina!
